ASANTE (ASHANTI), CEREMONIAL OBJECTS, iron and wood, Ghana

Asante metal ceremonial objects, like their stools, indicate status, power and succession of chiefs and kings. Held or displayed in public rituals and appearances tobjects like these functioned as royal sceptres, symbolic swords and knives. Numbers 5 and 7 are also functional bells with their original clappers.
