BAGA, ANOK, Guinea.
In spite of their appearance, we believe these heads were carved for the collecting market.
NOTE: As in most Baga anok heads, the heads lift off the base and neck
piece. The tilt can be adjusted some and wedged in place.
We recommmend Art of The Baga: A Drama of Cultural Reinvention by
Frederick Lamp (Museum for African Art/Prestel).
