BAMILEKE
STOOL 62
14.5" - 15.25" high x 11.25" - 12.75" in diameter
$400
SOLD

Despite its appearance this stool was probably made to be sold.

Note that is is not perfectly circular, wider than it is deep, and higher on one side.

The abstracted spider pattern of this stool is the most recognizable of Bamileke stool motifs. The spider, being clever enough to built a beautiful trap, is admired for her wisdom. Spending some time underground, she is also thought to be a messenger between the living world and the world of the ancestors.
