ELANDA MASK 1
48" high x 24" wide x 14" deep (with raffia)
28.5 " high x 11.5" wide x 6" deep (mask alone)
Elanda masks, from the Elanda male association, most often have
a rounded top and a flat bottom, with a spiritual, mysterious, but human
face. Some with rounded faces are similar, but those with pointed beak-like
chins and small tufts or horns represent bird or animal spirits. Several
, like this one, have multiple sets of eyes.
Despite its powerful prescence and excellent workmanship, we believe this piece may have been made for the collecting market. The only damage is a small piece missing on the very bottom of the mask (see last detail).
Stand not included.
