BAULE, Currency 6, 4" high, Copper, Ivory Coast, $350 SOLD

Copper alloy forms like these were both worn and used as currency. The anklets, made hollow by the lost wax process, were part of a woman's dowry. This one has extensive damage on the back but is solid and well formed from the front view. It has been vetted as authentic.
