This one has a story.
Several years ago, we sent this object (which had a lovely rusty patina at the time) to a client in Australia. A couple of years later, we received a furious message from him, accusing us of all sorts of unsavory behavior. Seems an automobile enthusiast friend of his had identified the seam as a soldered rather than a welded joint and suggested that our gong had actually started life as a muffler.
We refunded the chap's purchase price plus shipping costs plus customs fees plus the change in the dollar/Australian currency ratio and he sent the object back to us, having neglected to mention that upon receiving the gong originally, he'd had the rust ground off and the piece buffed up and varnished.
Gong or muffler, we like the shape.
