We know little about these enigmatic figures from the Gan people. There are some similarities with sculptures from the neighboring Akan, Fon and Ewe peoples.

Old Gan fetishes are very rare. Despite their appearance, someof these fetishes show no evidence of age or use and were probably made to be sold.
