IGBO, OGBODO MASKS, Nigeria

These masks are Obgodo (elephant spirit) masks carved by the Igbo-Izi people who live in the northeastern part of the Igbo territory in Nigeria. Note the variety in tusks and trunk forms on the front and the separate head on the back of several. They were worn and are usually displayed horizontally.
