KIRDI, BEADED APRONS, No. Cameroon

The colors shown above are generally inaccurate. We have started to re-photograph the aprons but please inquire about the true colors if any of the aprons is of interest.

Kirdi beaded aprons, cache-sex jewelry called "pikuran", denote age, status and social condition. They were worn to attract attention and protect against evil. Our examples show a wide range of colorful, abstact patterns.

Length is longest length/width of beadwork, without string.
