TERRACOTTA VESSEL 7, Burkina Faso

Terracotta Vessel 7
15" high
$600

The lid of this vessel does not match the pot itself and the pot has been extensively damaged and is missing a considerable number of its points.

Two women's associations of potters exists in west Burkina, near Banfora. One is between the Nankana in Tiebele; the other is between the Karaboro, near Banfora. These groups work for the antiquarians of Ouaga and Bobo and also produce also these pots.

(As we had identified these pots as being from the Lobi people, we are grateful to Valter Maltinti of Milan for his corrections.)
