LOBI VESSEL 16, Terracotta, 21", Burkina Faso, $1000
These pots are among the rarest and most prized in African pottery. Nos. 1. 2, 5, 6 & 8 have 4-sided openings cut almost invisibly into the top, which opens to reveal a small opening. The others have more loosely fitting lids. No. 7 lid does not match its vessel. 7 & 11 have surface damage (many missing points). No. 16 has lost a few points.
