Mende figures are less well known than their Bundu (or Sande) masks.
Parts of this figure ( the head, torso and legs) have been vetted as authentic, with evidence of age and use. Unfortunately the front of both feet have been broken off and replaced with recarved newer pieces. One can see the crack or uneven area. Less easy to see are the two replaced arms which also appear to be recarved and newer.
