We have been informed that this is Nigerian, not a Mossi piece (Thanks, Ethan Rider).
It may have been carved out of an old post. There is a stable crack on the front right side (including a small crack on the face) and a stable larger crack on the back left.. There is some dried earth that has survived in crevices on the base ... I can wash it out if desired.
