NDEBELE, JOCOLO APRON 2, So. Africa, 26", $1000, © Tim Hamill
This beaded garment, made by and worn by women, was for ceremonial occasions. It defined one's status, progressing from girlhood to womanhood. The Jocolo, with it's five fingers, was reserved for married women. This piece is older, on leather, in excellent condition and has a row of brass rings along the top.
