PERE COUPLES, Democratic Republic of Congo
Although we do not know their specific significance, double figures are quite a common subject for sculpture among the peoples that live in what is now the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Pere are neighbors of the Lega.
These figures are fashioned of carved wood covered with leather.
