YORUBA
Crown 76
15.5" high (crown) 31" high (with veil) x 8.5"-10" wide
$400
SOLD*

Despite the quality of workmanship and the elegant form, we believe that this crown, unusual for its use of lizards instead of birds, was made to be sold.

This crown has no missing strands on the veil (Two strands, however, are only half length).  There is some clear glue near the top of the crown (see detail above) which was probably added to prevent damage or bead loss.  The inside is lined with part of a dark Yoruba ashoke textile.

The bird on the top of the crown has an extension that inserts into a hole on the top of the crown. It is removable.

If you would like a stand for this piece, please inquire.
