KOTOKO, BRONZE FIGURES, Chad

These cast equestrian figures, excavated in Chad, were cast by the Kotoko, descendants of the Sao (who disappeared in the 16th C.) They are small, ranging up to 3" in height. Little is known of the Kotoko civilization , but the Sao were one of the oldest iron-working cultures in West Africa.
