This type of woven raffia mask was worn pulled over the head by young, male initiates of the Binji people, DRC. They have stitched-on facial features made of light, soft wood, bone, wood or fiber.. There is a somewhat bird-like character to the masks.We have stuffed them to fill them out.

These three strange masks have been vetted as authentic, with signs of significant use and age.
