This unique piece is of made of a gourd, with coins tied on with leather straps, and later, seemingly, embellished with yarn. The coins, which are tenth-penny coins from British West Africa, date (those that are not worn too smooth to read) from the 30's & 40's up to1949. The stand is temporary, just for the photograph.
