DOGON STYLE SATIMBE MASKS, Mali

Despite their appearance these Satimbe masks show no signs of age or use and were probably made to be sold.

Since being photographed most of the Satimbe masks have been mounted, raised off a metal base.

Satimbe masks are surmounted by a female figure which represents the elder sister of the mask.
